Another successful Salemmanifestation
– despite massive opposition

This year’s annual Salem manifestation, the eighth in a row, was preceded by an unusually malignant anti-campaign. The politicians in Salem, the Police Board and the county administrative court have all attacked the manifestation and tried to stop it. After some intense efforts by Salemfonden, the arrangers of the event, the permission to carry out the manifestation was secured by the Swedish administrative court of appeal. In spite of all this, and despite the sudden tragic death of one of Salemfonden’s most important fellow workers during the preparations for the event, Timothy Groth, a dignified and successful manifestation could be carried out. A manifestation, which also broke the former downward spiraling of the number of Swedish participants.

Ahead of the manifestation a massive information campaign was launched. Flyers, stickers and posters were used as well as the internet where an informational film was seen by tens of thousands of viewers. Informational ads were run in nationalistic newspapers and an internet community, put up banners as well as made an e-mail merge at the last minute to reassure its users that the manifestation would take place, despite the established media reporting otherwise.

This year some unfortunate verbal and written attacks were made against the Salem manifestation by members of the Swedish nationalistic movement. Attacks such as these, on the largest protest against anti-white violence in Scandinavia, are hard to comprehend but it’s very probable that hostile powers employed by the government are behind these disunifying efforts against a manifestation that’s become a thorn in the flesh of the current powers. While the participants were gathering at the Rönninge train station, the starting-point of every Salem manifestation, the Swedish police had their hands full dealing with the communist counter demonstrators. Hiding out in the woods surrounding the manifestation area, planning to disrupt it through violence, most were caught by the police while others were busy burning down school buildings in the area. When the fire fighters arrived they were thrown rocks at by the apparently seriously confused Antifa. As usual they got nowhere near the peaceful manifestation apart from the odd scattered lonely Antifa shouting pitifully from the surrounding woods, where the police could then pick them up.

After waiting for the police to clean up the area, the torches were lit and the manifestation was on its way. The train’s participants meandered their way through the Swedish December darkness in the usual poised and dignified manner. When passing the spot where Daniel Wretström drew his last breath that cold winter’s evening eight years ago, participants put down flowers and lit candles.

Susann Ekberg, the master of ceremonies for the evening, welcomed everyone and Thomas Ölund, who co-founded Salemfonden, held the first speech applauding the courage of the participants for taking a stance against multi culture by gathering in Salem that evening. Other speakers were Stefan Jacobsson, an independent activist contributing to many different projects. He spoke engagingly of the importance of nationalistic unity and held up the Salem manifestation as an example of just that.

German singer Barney then performed the song Sleep Well My Brother together with Maria from Asynja, and a German song that commemorates fallen heroes. Stephen Gunther from Nordische Hilfswerk held the next speech and spoke of gathering our strength by working together to build our own media for example.

Preston Wiginton had come all the way from Texas, USA, to participate in the manifestation and held a speech where he spoke of how the Salem participants were sending out en echo across the world that would inspire like-minded people everywhere.

Robert Vesterlund, who is also one of the co-founders of the Salemfonden, held the last speech of the evening. He spoke of his tragically deceased friend and colleague, Timothy Groth, and how this sad event had affected everyone involved in preparing for the manifestation. Victor Sjölund, the singer of Ferox, then performed a song specially written for Timothy, a very emotional moment for everyone present.

And thus, the Salem manifestation of 2007 was at an end. Close to a thousand people participated this year.

See you in Salem in 2008!
